We have all experienced it. The frustration, the hold times on the phone, the financial distress, owing more than they told you, being denied for something that is helping you. Paying high premiums monthly only to have something not covered…
There are so many reasons that I am grateful we have insurance and I have been so happy to meet so many amazing people who have come in to the sanctuary because of their insurance referral hoping for relief and have found it. I am also happy that the western medical world is beginning to acknowledge and turn to acupuncture because they are beginning to see the amazing healing benefits for the body and the mind and its capability to help the body heal through the most difficult things that pills cannot compete with.
As I have been working inside the system of billing and all the back end of what it takes to be in-network, it has become unsustainable for me and a detriment to my own mental and physical well-being. I get behind in the paperwork and it keeps piling up, and sometimes I am not even able to be paid for months and sometimes not even at all. It is a fight and struggle every day and it is a system built on making profit not helping people be well and I don’t want to bring those frustrations into the sanctuary. It is a place of peace and healing, not a place of war for an insurance revolution… though that IS what we need!
Acupuncture is so beautiful and profound. My mission with acupuncture has always been and will always be: PEOPLE OVER PROFIT. Not taking insurance and implementing a sliding scale fee schedule of $60-$120 is a step to freedom and is going to free up my time, and energy to be better for YOU! There are no hidden fees, no up-charging just a flat rate of what you can afford for the treatment you need at the frequency you need it without a worry of it not being covered and mountains of paperwork for me or needing to go back to the doctor to get an approval letter to say “okay!”
I understand that this still may be too much for some of you and for some of you it’s a GREAT deal! Thankfully there are other providers in the area, if my changes don’t work for you. You will just need to login to www.ashlink.com to find another provider near you. You will also still be able to use FSA and HSA here at the sanctuary and I will still be able to provide you with a super bill if needed.
I so thank you all for the trust you have given me and hope to still see many of you and your loved ones throughout the years to come. The Sanctuary is a special place and something that I am very proud of and love being here taking care of all of you! I hope you feel that too!
